FAQ
Welcome to the No Storage Engine. Thank you for agreeing to be a participant in this speculative experiment.
Begin by clicking on “answer a question”. (If there are no pending questions please keep the window open, you will be alerted when a new question appears.)
You will see a user’s search request at the top of the page.
If you want to reply with a verbal answer, please click on ‘record audio answer’ and then follow the prompts.
If you want to respond with an image please click on ‘take picture’ and then follow the prompts. (You can use your phone to photograph anything in your surroundings that seems like an appropriate response to their query.)
There are no right or wrong responses, we are interested in the original, human qualities in your answers. Anything goes!
It’s completely open to your own interpretation. But if it’s a word like flower, it’s likely the person searching wants to see an image of a flower. If it’s phrased more like a question, like how many petals does a flower have? it’s more likely they want an answer.
Feel free to do whatever feels right to you.
Anything non-digital, you can take pictures of found content like books in your house, or things on the street, anything goes! Please do not write answers and then photograph them, or draw your responses (we don’t want to produce new information, only to use existing information from the world).
We would prefer you didn’t, our search engine is proposing an alternative to mainstream search engines and that would defeat the purpose!
Only the person who has sent you the question. They are anonymous and you are anonymous. Your response appears on their screen momentarily and then disappears forever.
Anonymous visitors to the No Storage search engine website.
If for any reason the page gets stuck / starts malfunctioning, please go back to the original link and start over.
Please be patient while waiting for questions to appear. (You can keep the window open, it will display an alert message when a question arrives.)
